There are many yoga mats available on the market. We have picked our favorites by their usability, durability, and environmental impact.
Yoga Mats
Manduka makes three different mats that we like:
The first is the eko which is a great choice for those who want a high-performance, durable yoga mat and are passionate about protecting our planet. The eKO’s closed-cell natural rubber will not fade or flake. The sea-grass texture finish and superior cushioning are kind to your body and the environment. This is a natural rubber mat made with a toxic-free softening process and is completely free of foaming agents and plasticizers. Because it is natural rubber, it is biodegradable and will leave no footprint in landfills. The eKo comes in 68” and 71” lengths and is 26” wide.
The eKo light is made for travel and light weight. Like the eKo, it is made of biodegradable rubber, free of toxic plasticizers and foaming agents. The eKo light is 68” long, 24” wide, and 1/8” thick.
The third mat that we like is the original Manduka Black Pro. It is a great surface to practice on and provides great cushioning. While it is not made of biodegradable materials, it is guaranteed for life so it will never see a landfill. that longevity makes it still a legitimate choice for our environmentally conscious practitioners.

Another mat company we really like is Jade.
We have been selling and using the Jade Harmony mats at our studio for several years. All of their mats are made sustainably in the United states from natural rubber and contain no PVC. They have a good grip even with those who sweet heavily and good cushion. The Harmony comes in either 68” or 74” length and either standard or wide (27”) width. In addition you have your choice of either 3/16” or 5/16” thickness. The travel mat is just 1/8” t hick making it very light. Jade plants a tree for every mat they sell.
